CDL Violation Attorney

Truck on Highway.

A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) is essential for many people. A CDL traffic violation could lead to the temporary or permanent loss of your CDL, which can mean losing a main source of income for truck drivers that depend on it. At Turner Law Offices, P.C., we do not think that is fair. Our attorneys have over 20 years of experience in handling CDL violations and will work hard to make sure you do not lose your rights and income.

Tennessee CDL Violations

  • Drivers are not allowed to have multiple CDL licenses. A maximum fine of $5,000 and jail time will be slapped on you if you are found to have CDL licenses from various states.
  • A specific permit is necessary for vehicles to carry over-sized loads. Those permits can be issued per trip or annually but may not be distributed from vehicle to vehicle.
  • Logbooks are mandatory for CDL drivers and must be kept up to date. Falsifying or failing to keep a logbook can lead to federal penalties and up to six months in jail.
  • Driving over the speed limit can result in a suspended license ranging between 60 and 120 days for speeding.
  • Driving on an impermissible road because of grade restrictions can lead to penalties of up to a 60-day license suspension for a first-time offender.
  • An alcohol violation will mean a one-year CDL suspension, and a second alcohol violation will mean a lifetime revocation. This violation can be enforced even if driving a commercial motor vehicle (CMV).
