Patrick Kane Under the Microscope Again in Alleged Sexual Assault

Just months after Patrick Kane of the Chicago Blackhawks cleared his name from an alleged rape case in his hometown of Hamburg, New York, a new story involving Kane sexually assaulting another woman has emerged. An anonymous blog entry to LiveJournal.com detailed a horrifying account between Kane and the anonymous woman at a Los Angeles bar following a Blackhawks road game versus the LA Kings on Nov. 29, 2014. The timing of the blog post is odd, but the woman cites it is because “Kane is in the [NHL] All-Star Game” and she was worried people would not believe her. You can read the entire story here, but I warn you it is graphic.

Is it True?

Kane leads the NHL in scoring by a large margin with 71 points (30 goals, 41 assists) in 49 games and is on pace to win a multitude of awards at the end of the season. Because of this, people are quick to defend Kane. There are a lot of pieces in this puzzle for the accusation to be proved true. Step one is whether or not Kane and the Blackhawks actually stayed in LA after the game. NHL teams usually fly home after road games, which would blow the entire truth of this story out of the water. However, all the facts are still being gathered.

Nashville Sex Offenses

As Kane can attest to, being accused of a sexual crime is very embarrassing and can damage your reputation. If this were to happen in Tennessee, Kane would be charged with a Class B Felony for rape, which is 8-30 years in prison and a maximum fine of $25,000. Also, Kane would be required to register on the Sex Offender Registry, which can affect your job career and living situation. Of course, since Kane has the money for an excellent legal team, the sentencing would not be nearly as severe.
