LA Kings Prospect Faces Domestic Assault Charges
Criminal activity does not just reside in baseball, basketball and football; it happens in hockey, too. A goaltender of the East Coast Hockey League’s Manchester Monarchs was arraigned Tuesday on 12 domestic-related charges and one felony charge of second-degree assault. Patrik Bartosak, 22, allegedly strangled, beat and threatened to kill his 20 year old girlfriend Monday afternoon in their New Hampshire home. Currently, Bartosak is free on a $10,000 bail under the conditions to not contact the victim. Trial is set for Jan. 28, 2016. The native of Czech Republic was drafted 146th overall (fifth round) by the Los Angeles Kings in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft and is a highly regarded prospect in the organization.
The Allegations
I do want to warn you ahead of time that what Bartosak allegedly said to his girlfriend is graphic. According to news sources, Bartosak is facing seven domestic simple assault charges for grabbing her by the shoulders and pushing he against a wall, choking her, grabbing her right chest to pull her off a bed, punching her in the chest twice, slapping her in the face and slapping her on both legs three times. Also, he is facing three criminal threatening charges for allegedly telling her: “If you don’t have anything to say I’m going to kill you,” “I’m going to punch you in the face if you don’t say anything,” and “I hope you know I’m going to knock you out and put you to sleep before I leave.” It is hard to imagine someone would do that to someone they “loved,” but it unfortunately happens.
