OK Homecoming Parade Stopped by Car Crash

Oklahoma_State_University_Spears_170932Tailgating for college football is one of the finer things in life. With all the great food, booze and friends around, it is no wonder tailgating tends to get a bit rowdy. For one Oklahoma State University fan, her negligent rowdiness led to being arrested and killing and injuring others. Adacia Avery Chambers, 25, crashed into a crowd watching Oklahoma State’s homecoming parade prior to Saturday’s game against the University of Kansas. Three people are dead, eight are suffering critical injuries, seven are seriously injured and at least seven more are hurt. Stillwater Police arrested Chambers, who is not believed to be an Oklahoma State student, on suspicion of drunk driving.

Horrific Homecoming

Homecoming is a time when alumni from all over the world return to their alma mater for a weekend of coming together to relive the good times of college. However, at OSU, their joyous day turned dark because of a careless act by a drunken driver. Chambers’ sedan hit an unoccupied police motorcycle handling security at the parade prior to plowing into the crowd. Witnesses who were at the scene vividly remember seeing people fly 30 feet into the air. Oklahoma State played its homecoming game against Kansas as scheduled and dedicated it to those who were affected in the tragic accident.

Tennessee Personal Injury

Automobile accidents involving a pedestrian lead to the most dangerous and fatal injuries because of the pedestrian’s inability to protect itself. In many cases, there is debate about who is at fault. But in the Oklahoma State case, it is without a doubt Chambers’ fault. If this were to occur in Tennessee, Chambers would be charged with three counts of vehicular homicide and several counts of vehicular assault, in addition to a driving under the influence charge. Chambers is going to face hard prison time in the near future.
