Legal Technicality Might Lead to Dismissal of Divorce for Millionaire Son of Minnesota Viking’s Owner

Michael Mandelbaum, the millionaire son of Minnesota Vikings owner David Mandelbaum, could possibly have his divorce with wife, Debra Mandelbaum, dropped entirely based on something as simple as a legal technicality.

The divorce, which might be worth “hundreds of millions of dollars,” might be completely dismissed from the court because, as Michael is trying to prove, their 20-year marriage never technically happened.

Even though the two have been married since 1993, Michael is claiming that they were never actually married.  Their marriage license wasn’t issued until two days after the wedding ceremony and, based on other rulings by the appellate court, a marriage license must be procured before the wedding ceremony in order for it to be legally recognized.

Debra’s side of the case, however, is calling foul, bringing forward documents to prove that, although their marriage license was technically late, they lived and acted as a legitimate married couple. Debra’s case documents include joint tax returns, deeds, and greeting cards with messages like, “For my wife,” and, “After 20 years of marriage, I’d marry you all over again.”

The divorce first began after the two had separated last December, when police found Debra half-conscious at the bottom of her home’s stairs.  Debra claimed that, during a fight, Michael pushed her down the stairs.
