Nashville Mom Gets DUI with Toddler in Tow
Latasha J. Black is not going to win an award for being mother of the year anytime soon, though she could be a shoe-in for the worst mother of the year plaque. The 25-year-old Nashville mom was arrested and jailed by Franklin police over the weekend for driving under the influence. But not only was Black drunk driving, she was doing so with her unrestrained three-year-old child in the backseat. Apparently, the toddler wanted to party too.
The Situation
Lt. Charles Warner of Franklin Police stopped Black at approximately 2:45 a.m. on Sunday at Carter Street and Natchez Street for a traffic violation. After Warner discovered Black was intoxicated with her three-year-old child unrestrained in the back seat, Black was arrested and jailed. She is being charged with her second DUI offense, driving on a revoked driver’s license, violation of the child restraint law and reckless endangerment, in addition to being held to a $7,500 bail in Williamson Count Jail. She is due in court on Sep. 24.

It is illegal to drive a motor vehicle if your Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) is .08% or higher under Tennessee law. If caught, you will be charged with a misdemeanor. In addition, you will serve a year under supervised probation, pay a $350 fine plus court costs and assigned 24 hours of community service.
